MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers completed a sweep of the weekend by defeating the Lions of Saint Leo (25-17) (25-17) (27-25) at home in the Health & Sports Center.

- 1st set | The first set was tightly contested in the beginning with the score knotted up at 10-10. The Bucs rolled off five straight to make the score 15-10. Barry continued to push the lead and secured the first set. The Bucs hit .464 with only one error. Defensively, Christy Paul recorded three blocks in the set, which helped make Saint Leo's hitting percentage .125. | Barry 25, Saint Leo 17
- 2nd set | The Bucs got off to an early lead of 8-5. The Lions fought back and took the lead 12-10. The set continued to go back and forth with Barry having a lead of 20-19. Barry then went on a 5-2 run to close out the match, fueled by kills from Diana Akopova and Djuly Schmorantz. | Barry 25, Saint Leo 21
- 3rd set | The Lions did not go away, making the Bucs secure the win in overtime. The set was tightly contested until the Lions went up by three at the end of the set, 22-19. Thanks to clutch kills by Mariana Bertrán and Schmorantz and a clutch block by Marija Borcic and Jeyhlen Thomas the Bucs knotted it up. The Lions were one point away from securing the match, 24-23 before Akopova got a clutch kill to even it up again. NOTEWORTHY:
- Akopova recorded 18 kills on the night, with a hitting percentage of .433. Schmorantz added eight kills and Christy Paul added seven.
- Borcic totaled 34 assist, which led to a team hitting percentage of .324 and also recorded five blocks.
- Thomas recorded eight blocks on the night.
- Luana Bulara recorded 20 digs.

The Bucs will travel to St. Petersburg, Fla to play Eckerd in the McArthur Center on Friday, Sept. 30. The first serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
