DAVIE, Fla. -- The third-seeded Barry Buccaneers fought tooth and nail in the Sunshine State Conference championship but ultimately fell to the undefeated Nova-Southeastern Sharks 98-85 on Sunday, Mar. 6.

SUMMARY:
- 1H - The first half saw eight ties and 15 lead changes as the two sides slugged it out. Jake Kakar was on fire dropping all four of his three-point attempts in the first two minutes, the last of which he drained off a Toru Dean drive-and-kick to give the Bucs a two-point lead with ten seconds till the half. Nova's Eddie Puisis knocked down a running fade-away jumper at the buzzer to knot things up. | Tied 54-54
- 2H - Amari Haynes sunk a pair of free-throws at the 7:40 mark to tie things up at 76 apiece and it looked as though the Buccaneers were in a prime position to pull off the improbable and spoil the Sharks' undefeated season. RJ Sunahara and Sekou Sylla would go on to take over the game and score 19 points combined in the last six and a half minutes of regulation as the Sharks would finish the game on a 22-9 run to secure the championship.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Dean filled up the box score, tallying 10 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
- Dean and Kakar were both named to the SSC All-tournament team in recognition of their performances throughout the tournament.
- The Bucs got solid production off the pine with 27 points off the bench compared to ten for the Sharks.
