WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneer women's golf team finished off their dominant performance at the Peggy Kirk Invitational, winning the tournament by 17 strokes on Tuesday, Mar. 15. Alice Götbring won the individual trophy at +6 with teammate Eve Marie Sapin finishing right behind her at +7.
The fifth-ranked Bucs are joined at the invite by seven other ranked teams including No. 1 Lynn, No. 8 Rollins, No. 14 Saint Leo, No. 22 Florida Southern, No. 27 Columbus State, #30 West Georgia and #36 Embry-Riddle, along with NCAA Division I Dayton.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Götbring was dominant in the field, leading the tournament with 11 birdies and shooting 42 of 54 holes at par or better.
- Sapin was nearly as good with 37 pars and six birdies.
- Götbring wins her third tournament of the season in seven outings. She also has two second-place finishes.
- Maria Cowan had her best outing of the season to finish tied for eighth. She had 31 pars, tied with Götbring for eighth and added six birdies.
- Barry shot par or better on 186 of 270 holes, while second place Lynn had 170.
- The Bucs finished tied for first in par-3 scoring and second in both par-4 and par-5.
