WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

SUMMARY:
Game 1

  • B1: Barry jumped out on top in the first game with four runs after two outs in the first inning. Cassandra Lee singled up the middle and Payton Germer reached on a fielder's choice when the Chargers were unable to get Lee at second. Sofia Chamorro bounced a single up the middle, scoring Lee and sending Germer to third and taking second on the throw. Maggie Wheless followed with a single to score Germer. With Wheless at first and Chamorro at third, Charger catcher McKenna Eichholz overthrew the ball back to the pitcher, allowing Chamorro to score. | Barry 4, Hillsdale 0
  • T2: The Chargers loaded the bases with no outs in the second, but were only able to come up with one run as Jenna Cantalupo scored on a ground out. | Barry 4, Hillsdale 1
  • T3: The Chargers took the lead in the third, scoring four runs on five hits. Renee Bielawa came up with the big hit, a two-run single to right. | Hillsdale 5, Barry 4
  • B4: The Bucs took back the lead in the fourth. Wheless led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error by third baseman Elaine Townley. Skylar Jenkins followed with a sacrice bunt, but reached base when catcher Eichholz threw the ball away at first. Jenkins promptly stole second and Wheless scored when Becka Mellor grounded out. The inning then took a surreal turn, as Courtney Chisholm walked, but then stole second as the Chargers failed to cover the bag. Jenkins took off for home and slid in safely with what proved to be the winning run. | Barry 6, Hillsdale 5

Game 2

  • B2: Germer launched a solo homer leading off the second inning. | Barry 1, Kutztown 0
  • T4: Kate Ostaszewski tripled to lead off the inning and scored ahead of a double by Hannah Auvil. After Auvil was caught stealing, Brianna Hughes belted a solo homer to give the Golden Bears the lead. | Kutztown 2, Barry 1
  • B5: Barry batted around and scored four runs in the fifth. Chisholm and Taylor Thompson walked. One out later, Lee skied a double over the head of the center fielder, scoring Chisholm. After Germer was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Wheless walked to force in a run. Jenkins followed with an RBI single through the left side. Mellor also singled to left, scoring Germer, but Wheless was cut down at the plate. | Barry 5, Kutztown 2
  • T6: Ostaszewski singled with one out and Auvil doubled to send her to third. After a sacrifice fly scored Ostaszewski, Auvil scored on a base hit by Hughes. | Barry 5, Kutztown 4
  • B6: Chisolm reached on a error and stole second. She scored on a two-out single by Lee. | Barry 6, Kutztown 4
