Men's Hoops Tripped Up By Tars

The Bucs fell to Rollins 80-75

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The 22nd-ranked Barry Buccaneers dropped their second game in a row after falling to the Rollins Tars 80-75 on Saturday, Feb. 5., at the Health & Sports Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - Justinas Marcinkevicius's dominant first half in the paint kept the Bucs in the game, the junior recorded 12 points on 6-9 shooting to go along with ten rebounds in the half. The Bucs struggled from deep, shooting just 3-15 from long range but held a 30-12 rebounding advantage which allowed them to keep within striking distance headed into halftime. | Tars 37, Bucs 35
  • 2H - The second half was back-and-forth the entire 20 minutes. Michael Schaefer sunk the back end of a pair of free-throws with 45 seconds left to give the Bucs a 75-74 advantage. Rollins would follow that up with four straight points to gain a three-point advantage with nine seconds left. The Tars sent Toru Dean to the foul line on the ensuing possession with six second left. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Hutton Yenor was exceptional on both ends for the Tars, recording 25 points on 9-15 shooting to go along with six steals and a block.
  • Marcinkevicius anchored the Bucs all night, finishing with 22 points on 10-13 shooting and 15 rebounds.
  • The Bucs finished the game shooting 6-29 from downtown, their second-worst mark of the season.

Next up for the Bucs is another home game, this time against the Palm Beach Atlantic sailfish on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
