Women's Hoops Loses To Saint Leo In Regular Season Finale

The Bucs lost the game 80-63

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers celebrated their three seniors on Saturday, Feb. 26., but lost to the Saint Leo Lions 80-63 in their final Sunshine State Conference regular season women's basketball game.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q -  The game was a back-and-forth contest early on with the two teams trading buckets in the first quarter. Johanna Kampp sunk a triple with 46 second left to give Barry a one-point lead but Saint Leo struck back with a triple of their own from Alex Button. | Lions 20, Bucs 18.
  • 2Q - Barry took their biggest lead of the game when Ashia Pool converted a layup with 2:05 left to give the Bucs a 34-26 lead. | Bucs 36, Lions 32
  • 3Q - After a fast start to the half from the Lions, Narea Baena sunk a pair of free-throws at the 5:16 mark to make it a one-point game. The Lions responded by finishing the quarter on a 13-2 run to take a commanding lead headed into the game's final quarter. | Lions 57, Bucs 45

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Lions had two players eclipse the 20-point mark with Amanda Ulrich logging 24 points and Alex Button scoring 20.
  • Barry had four players in double-figure scoring led by Ashleigh Pink with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
