ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The #16 Barry University Buccaneers women's volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-21, 29-27, 25-14) at Eckerd College on Sunday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference (SSC) action at the McArthur Center. The Bucs finish their regular season at 25-5 overall, and 16-4 in SSC play, a close second behind defending national champion University of Tampa. The Spartans earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II National Championships while the Buccaneers, Tritons, and other SSC schools await at-large bids in tonight's Selection Show on NCAA.com.

Trailing 21-15, Barry called a timeout and ran off three straight with a kill from Christy Paul, another from Djuly Schmorantz, and a service ace from Mónica López. Mariana Bertrán had one of her team-high 10 kills and followed that with a service ace to pull within three again (23-20), but Eckerd closed out the set with kills from Joelle Coulter and Damyah Joyner. | Barry 21, Eckerd 25
• 2^nd set | The Buccaneers erased a five-point deficit late (20-15) and won six of seven points to tie the score at 21-all following a kill from Marina Azevedo. • 3^rd set | Mariana Bertrán had the last kill for the Buccaneers to close within two at 15-13, but the Tritons finished the match on a 10-1 run included two service aces from Krysten Garrison and one from Coulter. | Barry 14, Eckerd 25

• With its win yesterday at Florida Southern, Barry avoided consecutive losses all regular season.
• All four conference losses for the Buccaneers were sweeps - twice to Lynn, once each to Tampa and Eckerd.
