MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers defeated the Moccasins of Florida Southern 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-15) at home in the Health & Sports Center on Friday night. The Bucs improve to 15-1, 8-1 in SSC play.

However, the Moccasins showed a little life by scoring five in a row, to make the score 18-10. The Bucs stopped Florida Southern's momentum and secured the second set. - 3rd set | The Moccasins did not back down in the third set. The scored was tied midway through the set at 12-12. The Bucs scored four in a row to make it 16-12. With the score 16-13, the Bucs scored 11 in a row to go up big and secure the match. The Bucs offense was on fire, as they hit .464 in the set. | Barry 25, FSC 15
NOTEWORTHY:
- Akopova totaled 23 kills with a hitting percentage of .526. Akopova's 23 kills totaled more than FSC had has a team, which was 19.
- Schmorantz totaled ten kills to go along with a team-leading 13 digs, one block and a service ace.
- Christy Paul had three blocks.
- Barry recorded a side-out percentage of 71 percent.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs play next in the SSC/GSC Volleyball Crossover in Hoover, Ala., at the Finley Center. The tournament takes place from Friday Oct. 14 and Saturday Oct. 15. The Bucs first game will take place on Friday but the time and opponent are unknown as of now. Official seeding will be announced on Saturday night, but with the Buccaneers sweep and Saint Leo's third set win against Tampa, the Bucs should have the one seed.
