SPOKANE, Wash. -- Barry University, for the second straight year, put nine rowers on the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete list.
"In a year where we had a relatively small roster, and obviously so many trials and tribulations to go through on a daily basis, it's incredible to me that we tied a team record for most National Scholar Athletes in one season," head coach Nick Johnson said. "It's a testament to how focused our group was this year, not just on their training and trying to achieve the 'bubble mentality' that we constantly talked about, but in keeping an extraordinarily high level of academic success."
Etchebaster-Martins, Marinkovic, Stampolkou, Sumner-Borema all repeated their selections from 2020. Armstrong, who started the semester on the women's basketball team, earned her first award, as did Araujo, Pullen, Wapplehorst, and Young.
Stampolkou added the Scholar Athlete award to her All-SSC selection.
