Softball Falls on the Road to NSU

Taylor Checkley has reached base safely in six of the last seven games.

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Bucs dropped two games against Nova Southeastern on Friday at the AD Griffin Sports Complex. Only the first game of the double-header against the Sharks counts as a Sunshine State Conference game. Barry lost game one 4-3 and fell short in game 11-3 after the run-rule was triggered in the fifth inning.

SUMMARY:
Game One

  • T2 - After giving up two runs in the first, the Bucs manufactured runs to tie things up. A double-steal plated Erin Scanlon with Ayana Andrade-Zygmunt taking second base on the play. | NSU 2, Barry 2
  • T7 - Down 4-2, the Bucs had runners on first and second, two out. Michelle Roldan's single cut the Shark lead to one. Cassandra Lee would pinch run for Roldan and steal second giving Barry runners on second and third, but the game ended on a line out by Andrade-Zygmunt. NSU 4, Barry 3
Game Two
  • T1 - Roldan stayed hot with a two RBI single scoring Payton Germer and Meggie Wheless. | Barry 2, NSU 0
  • T3 - Down 5-2, Kayla Posten drove in a run for the Bucs. Later in the inning, Barry would try the double-steal again and Germer was thrown out at the plate. NSU 5, Barry 3
  • B4 - Chantal Tripp came in relief for Bucs' starting pitcher Cassandra and gave up the 11th run to trigger the run-rule and end the game in the fifth inning after the Bucs were unable to score a run.
NOTEWORTHY:
  • Posten went 3-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch in game one
  • With a hit in each game, Checkley has reached base safely in six of the last seven games.
