Women's Basketball Loses To Florida Tech In Makeup Game

Bucs fall to 4-4

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost to the Florida Tech Panthers 78-65 on Cesar Odio Court on Sunday in women's basketball action.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Florida Tech jumped out on top 4-0, but Barry battled back to take an 8-7 lead on a three-pointer by Harriett Swindells at 6:58. The Panthers rebuilt an 18-13 lead on a layup by Irene Vicente with just under three minutes to play. | Florida Tech 22, Barry 16
  • 2Q - Play was und-and-down in the second period. The Panthers quickly pushed the lead to double figures on a pair of baskets by Aiste Vaitekunaite. Barry against battled back to sut the lead to one, 28-27, as Skyeler Sandison hit a layup at 5:14. It was one point after the 2:22 mark, but Fanny Paulin hit a pair of triples down the stretch to get Florida Tech back their six-point lead. | Florida Tech 41, Barry 35
  • 3Q - The Panthers started the third period on a 10-0 run, fueled by more long-range shooting by Paulin and Zoe Murphy. The Panthers pushed the lead to 21, 60-39, on a three-pointer by Lina Stranger-Johannessen with 4:28 to play. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Swindells led the Bucs with 18 points, while Fusari added 16. 
  • Paulin led the Panthers with 23 points, including 7-of-11 from three-point range. On Saturday, against Saint Leo, she was 0-for-5. She came into the game with just eight made three-pointers in five games.
  • Stranger-Johannessen added 19 points and Vaitekunaite chipped in 11. 

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry visits Palm Beach Atlantic on Wedensday before closing the regular season against Florida Southern at home on Saturday.
