MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-The Sunshine State Conference had a blind draw for the 2021 SSC Basketball Tournament and the Barry Buccaneers drew the second-seed on the women's side. They will host the Saint Leo Lions on Tuesday, Mar. 16 in the quarterfinals of the tourney.
Barry (5-4) has played the most games of any team in the conference. At home, the Bucs are 4-1. Guard combo Chiara Fusari and Harriet Swindells lead the Bucs, averaging 13.9 and 13.4 points per game respectively. Barry hosts the Florida Southern Moccasins on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
The Lions (2-2) have played less than half the games than the Buccaneers. They are 1-2 on the road, including an 80-77 overtime loss to the Bucs. Tori Lesko leads the Lions at 15.5 points per game, while Alex Button chips in 13.3.
The quarterfinal winners face off on Thursday, Mar. 18 at the higher seed and the championship game is set for Sunday, Mar. 21 at the highest remaining seed.

2020-21:Â Barry hosted and defeated Saint Leo, 80-77, in overtime on March 3rd. Alex Button (SLU) led all scorers with 22 points, while Harriet Swindells (BU) dropped in 20 points. Trinity Bosecker (BU - 14p/12r)Â and Tori Lesko (SLU - 18p/12r) tallied double-doubles.

NOTES: Saint Leo is aiming for the program's first-ever tournament championship. The Lions reached the title game in 2013 as the #7 seed, where they fell to Rollins. Barry looks to breaking a 29-year tournament championship drought. The Buccaneers' only tournament victory came in 1991 but played for the title as recently as 2015.
