Women's Basketball Nearly Pulls Off Comeback Against Sailfish

Barry almost pulled off a 5 point comeback with 30 seconds left

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers nearly pulled off an improbable comeback against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, coming back from down 5 points with 30 seconds left to having the ball and a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation, ultimately losing 51-53 at Rubin Arena on Monday, Mar 1.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Both teams started off cold from the field with the Bucs shooting 18% and the Sailfish also putting together a measly 25% clip from the field. | PBA 10, Barry 8
  • 2Q - The Bucs started the quarter off hot with an 8-0 run to begin the frame fueled by a Harriet Swindells pull-up three on a fastbreak at the 8:50 mark. The sailfish ripped off a run of their own at the end of the period to give them the lead going into the locker rooms. | PBA 26, Barry 22
  • 3Q - Both teams started to get their shooters going after halftime with the Bucs shooting 41% in the third frame but three triples from the sailfish gave them the lead going to into the final quarter. | PBA 41, Barry 36
  • 4Q - Two late triples from Swindells and another from Camilla Flefil nearly capped off a comeback for the Bucs but they came up just short. | PBA 53, Barry 51

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Swindells set another season-high for her, recording 17 points.
  • Flefil had a trio of triples on 37% shooting from downtown.
  • Maria Benitez-Zayas had 17 for the Sailfish.
