Volleyball sweep matches in day one of crossover

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. –  The Buccaneers took a trip north to Winter Haven, Fla. to take on elite teams fromm the GSC.  After day one of the tournament, the Bucs proved they belong with a dominate showing over Valdosta State and Union (Tn) . In the first match, Barry won 3-0 over Valdosta State 25-21, 25-17, 25-19 and in the second match, The Bucs got the best of Union in four sets 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16.

SUMMARY:
Valdosta State

  • 1st set | The Bucs jumped out to an early scoring start leading 15-10, Bucs ulimately win the set off a qaud of kills and a service ace by Bianca Pasca | Barry 25, Valdosta 21
  • 2nd set | Eveven attacking errors stifled any chance the Blazers had in the second set. | Barry, 25, Valdosta 17
  • 3rd set | Four kills from Mariana Bertran and three from Djuly Schmorantz allowed the Bucs to edge out the blazers and win the match. | Barry 25, Valdosta 19

Union

  • 1st set | Bucs started the match going back and foruth with the bulldogs, tied 22-22 errors from the Bulldogs handed Barry the first set| Barry 25, Union 19
  • 2nd set | The Bucs lead 20-14, The bulldogs rallied off a couple of barry errors and kills from Jordan Vick and Alyssa Tatsch to capture the set.  | Union 25, Barry14
  • 3rd set | Schmorantz and her eight kills in the third set put the bucs back in control of the game. | Barry 25, Union 19
  • 4th set |  The Bucs kept the pressure on the Bulldogs, the Bucs combained for 16 kills to spell the end for the bulldogs | Barry 25, Union 16

NOTEWORTHY:.

  • Schmorantz lead the team with 35 kills between the two matches, 9 kills against Valstosa and 26 kills against Union.
  • Monica Lopez and Schmorantz tallied over 30 digs each in day one of the crossover. 

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry continues play at the SSC/GSC crossover with one more match tomorrow against Auburn-Montgomery Saturday October 23rd at 2:30pm.
