MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers dropped their regular season home-finale to Saint Leo 82-72 at the Health & Sports Center on senior night. The Bucs recognized six members of the team, including team manager Jonathan Nunez.

SUMMARY:
- The Buccaneers went 4:06 without scoring their first points of the game when Tylan Birts made a layup. Both teams struggled to get good looks at the basket as Barry shot 34 percent and Saint Leo shot 37 percent from the field in the first half.
- Birts and Jake Kakar scored 20 of the 32 points in the first half for the Bucs. Barry outscored the Lions 20-6 in paint points and 20-7 in bench points.
- A Raivis Scerbinskis three cut the SLU lead to four with 3:38 left in the game, but the Lions fired back with a three-pointer of their own. Saint Leo responded to every basket the Buccaneers made down the stretch. Barry was unable to get stop defensively and make it a one possession game.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry out-rebounded the Lions 51-37.
- Birts finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds notching his 10th double-double of the season. He is now 10 points away from scoring 1,000 during his two-year career with the Bucs.
- Kakar had a season-high nine rebounds.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs' regular season is over with the Sunshine State Conference Tournament set to begin on Tuesday. Barry will host the quarterfinal round when Embry-Riddle makes their trip to The Shores. The Bucs split the regular season series with the Eagles. Each team won on their home court. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3rd at the HSC.
