MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The top-ranked Barry men's soccer team opened the 2019 season a day late, but came out on top 2-0 over the Georgian Court Lions on Friday night at Buccaneer Field.

SCORING SUMMARY:
- 9:15 - Barry got on the board first off a corner kick by Francisco Greco. Greco's kick was flicked on by Andreas Volk to freshman Kasper Hedegaard who headed the ball into the goal past Lion keeper Yianni Kavarakas.
- 55:28 - The Bucs added an insurance goal early in the second half. Andres Gonzalez broke free on the left side and sent a shot rifling in toward Kavarakas who punched it out, but it came down to Greco's feet and the Bucs leader knocked in the rebound.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Mirko Ronchi came away with a clean sheet in his first start with the Bucs, making six saves on the night. The highlight came in the 81st minute when GCU's Tom Ardron came in one-on-one and Ronchi turned away the shot with a diving stop. He starts the season 1-0 in goal.
- Kavarakas also made six saves, but took the loss after allow the brace of goals.Â
- Luca Schad made a team save for the Lions, getting in front a shot by Felipe Ospina in the 64th minute.
- It was the third win for the Bucs over the Lions in the series in three games.
