DAVIE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers exploded for four runs in the second inning and held off the 18th-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks 7-4 in Sunshine State Conference baseball action at the NSU Baseball Complex on Friday night. The win evens the series at 1-1 and sets up a rubber game on Saturday.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Anthony Gutierrez (2-0) turned in a dominant relief performance to pick up his second win of the season. In three scoreless innings, he scattered three hits and a walk and struck out four.
- Hugo Casilla worked a perfect ninth, striking out two, to earn his first save.
- Krzyzanowski (0-1) was tagged with the loss, the first of the year for the Sharks. In four innings, he gave up four runs on a six hits and a walk and struck out three.
- Barry's bullpen had a great night, as Cade Middleton also went two innings, allowing a run on two hits and striking out three. For the group, they tossed six innings of one-run ball, on four hits and a walk and struck out nine.
- Alvarez led the Bucs at the plate, going 4-for-4 with three singles and a homer. He scored twice and drove in three.
- Garcia and Pino also both had two hits.
- Wolforth, who was 2-for-5 with a double and a triple, scored twice, to lead the Sharks.
