DAVIE, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers saw the 18th-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks rally for a 5-4 win in the Sunshine State Conference opener for both teams at the NSU Baseball Complex. The Sharks scored four runs on a pair of two-run homers with two outs in the eighth to erase a 4-1 Barry lead.

NOTEWORTHY:
- Frank II Gonzalez had a brilliant start for the Bucs. He tossed 6.1 one-run innings allowing only three hits and no walks with six strikeouts.
- Matt Ornelas did almost equally well for the Sharks. He allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits, but walked three and struck out seven in 6-1 innings.
- Joe Smeton (1-0) faced two batters and got three outs to earn the win for NSU.
- Brock Minich hit Diaz to lead off the ninth, but retired the next three Bucs in order to earn his first save.
- All six of the Sharks hits came with two outs.
- Barry left 10 runners on base.
