Basketball Entertains Tars For Homecoming

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Both the men's and women's basketball teams will host Tampa on Saturday in another Sunshine State Conference showdown. After Saturday, both Buccaneer teams have 10 games remaining this season in which all are SSC matchups. Every game will be crucial to earning home court during the first round of the SSC Tournament and earning a spot among the top-eight teams in the South Region. The SSC tournament will begin Wednesday, March 6th.

Women's Basketball - Saturday, Feb. 16; 2:00 pm; Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center

The Bucs (8-15, 5-10 SSC) are coming off an 89-74 win over Florida National on Wednesday. Nichel Tampa lead five Buccaneers in double-figures with a game-high 20 points. Harriet Swindells added 16 points off the bench. Emma Hergot had 13, while Ida Andersson and Melanie Jordan each chipped in 11.

The Tars (10-12, 7-9 SSC) are coming in having dropped five of their last six games, including a 67-50 loss to Tampa on Wednesday.  The Tars, who do not have any players averaging double figures were led by Rachel Jablonski's 15 points.

Men's Basketball - Saturday, Feb. 16; 4:00 pm; Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center

The men (13-9, 8-7 SSC) are coming off a 78-66 loss last Saturday at Eckerd, snapping a two-game winning streak.. Daniel Mortensen led the Bucs with 15 points and Isaiah Hobbs added 11 points.

The Tars (9-15, 3-13 SSC) are currently on a seven-game skid in the conference, after dropping a 95-88 game to Tampa on Wednesday.  Eric Castaneda scored 24 points to lead Rollins. Connor Mckim added 18 points and six assists while Jakobi Bonner scored 14, Trevor Recio netted 11 and Hutton Yenor recorded 10 points.
