Women's Basketball Loses To Panthers

Hergot has double-double in loss

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost to the Florida Tech Panthers 79-68 in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action from the Health & Sports Center on Monday night.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Bucs started strong, going up 9-3 after the first three minutes. But the Panthers closed back to within three and that's where the period ended. Neither team shot the ball particularly well, as they connected on just 32.4 percent from the field combined. | Barry 17, Florida Tech 14 
  • 2Q - The Panthers forged ahead in the first five minutes of the second quarter. A three pointer by Amanda Allen gave Florida Tech a 28-27 lead, capping a 14-7 run. The Panthers continued to build the margin, making it six points at the half. | Florida Tech 35, Barry 29
  • 3Q - Barry battled back in the third. Trailing 42-35, the Bucs scored six straight points to pull within one, 42-41, on a layup by Emma Hergot. Barry tied it, 51-51, on a three-pointer by Ashleigh Pink with just under two minutes, but the Panthers regained the lead on a pair of free throws by Aniquah Swan to close the frame up two. | Florida Tech 53, Barry 51.
  • 4Q - Barry took a lead right out of the gate, on a three-pointer by Harriet Swindells. But the team went cold from the field over the next 4:25 as the Panthers went on a 12-0 run. The Bucs never got closer than eight points. | Florida Tech 79, Barry 68

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Hergot led the Bucs with a double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Swindells added 17 points and Pink had 13.
  • November Morton had 22 to lead the Panthers.
  • Severine Uggen came off the bench with 19 points and Gudla Juliusdottir added 13.

Barry plays in the Nova Southeastern Holiday Classic this weekend, facing Findlay and Ohio Dominican in Rick Case Arena.
