Women's Basketball Loses To Wildcats

Bucs fall to Daemen in Cesar Odio Classic

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers lost their second game in the Cesar Odio Classic to the Daemen Wildcats 78-69 in women's basketball action in Health & Sports Center on Saturday.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - The Bucs got off to another slow start, hitting just 5-of-17 from the floor in the first quarter. The Bucs led, however, 8-2 after a jumper by Ashleigh Pink with 5:10 left in the period. But after Nichel Tampa picked up here second foul, the Wildcats went on a 15-2 run to close the quarter. | Daemen 17, Barry 10
  • 2Q - The second period continued the Wildcat run. They pused the lead to double figures on a Caroline White jumper at 7:10. The lead swelled to 20 points, 38-18, with 2:30 left as White completed a three-point play and the Wildcats carried the 20-point cushion into the intermission. | Deamen 47, Barry 27
  • 3Q - The Bucs rallied a little to start the second half. The Bubcs hit 57.1 percent from the floor in the third quarter and out-scored the Wildcats 24-17. Nichel Tampa led the charge with 12 points in the period, including a pair of triples. | Daemen 64, Barry 51
  • 4Q - The Bucs sliced down the lead steadily in the fourth quarter, closing to 75-69 on a free throw by Emma Hergot with 0:26 seconds left. But the Bucs would not score again and fell by nine. | Daemen 78, Barry 69

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Tampa led the Bucs with 20 points, while Harriett Swindells added 19..
  • White led the Wildcats with 22 points, She was backed by Tiara Filbert with 17 and Katie Titus with 16.

ON THE HORIZON:

Barry is off now until Dec. 4 when they travel to Lynn for a Sunshine State Conference game.
