Volleyball Wins Third Straight; Sweeps Season Series Over Rollins

The Bucs set a season-high in team hitting percentage against the Tars (.337)

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Bucs continue to take care of business with their third straight victory as we near the end of the regular season. Barry handled Rollins on Thursday inside the Warden Arena 3-0 and swept the season series against the Tars. The Bucs won the match 25-21, 25-18, 25-23. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING: 

"We've now won our last three matches," Bucs head coach Steve Hendricks said. "Our eight seniors are committed to finishing the season strong and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Our three remaining matches are all on our home court.  We will be celebrating the careers of those players next weekend on Friday and Saturday."

SUMMARY:

  • 1st set | A .391 hitting percentage and five service aces allowed the Bucs to take control of the match and come out on top in the first set. 
  • 2nd set | Barry jumped out to a 8-2 run, forcing Rollins to call a timeout. Back from injury, Brittany Reynolds chipped in three kills for the Bucs. 
  • 3rd set | The Buccaneers trailed by as many as seven in the set. Down 21-16 late, coach Hendricks called timeout and the Bucs came storming back ending the set on a 9-2 run.

NOTEWORTHY:.

  • The Buccaneers set a season-high in team hitting percentage against the Tars (.337)
  • Barry had three players with double-figure kills: Megi Buvinic (12), Kishara Gordon (10) and Kristina Filimonova (10).
  • The eight service aces were the most on the road this season for the Bucs and tied a season-high against an SSC opponent. 

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs are off until Tuesday, November 19th when they host Palm Beach Atlantic. First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm.
