DELAND, Fla. – The Buccaneer Rowing team travels north in state to close its fall season this weekend at the Hatter Invitational in DeLand, Fla. Stetson University will host the Bucs, Embry Riddle and Nova Southeastern on Lake Beresford.

The Bucs are slated to race two varsity eights and four varsity fours between four events. The Hatter Invite consists of a 3,200-meter race, followed by an exhibition 1,000-meter sprint by each crew.

"Lake Beresford is a great body of water and Stetson has really turned this into a fun event the last couple of years," head coach Nick Johnson said. "It's unconventional and gets everyone a ton of meters throughout the day, and gives all of our varsity athletes a chance to show how much progress they have made during the fall."

Barry took first place last year in DeLand in the first varsity eight and first varsity four, as well as second place in the second varsity four.

"This event is always a good spot to end the fall," assistant coach Travis Day said. "Stetson and its staff put on a great race and we put a lot of pressure on all of our crews to do well. This is always one we can build our confidence around before spring season."
