MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Both the men's and women's basketball teams will host Nova Southeastern for round two on Wednesday in another Sunshine State Conference showdown.
Women's Basketball - Wednesday, Jan 30; 5:30 pm; Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center
The Bucs (7-11, 5-6 SSC) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end in a 64-62 loss to the Tampa Spartans on Saturday. Nichel Tampa had 17 points and five steals, while Juhnae Richardson cam off the bench for 16 points and four steals.
Tampa and Ida Andersson provide a one-two punch for the Bucs in the backcourt. Tampa averages 15.2 points and 5.3 rebounds with 3.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Andersson chips in 14.8 points with a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. Harriet Swindells adds 10.4 points per game.
The Sharks (11-7, 7-4 SSC) have won four straight including an 82061 win over Embry-Riddle on Saturday. Maria Bardeeva led the team with 21 points, including 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Newcomer Jordan Tully came off the bench 17 points and Christen Prasse had a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
Alison Hughes leads four Sharks in double figures with 13.8 points per game. One of the top three-point shooters in the league, she is connecting at a 47.4 percent clip beyond the arc. Tully, in her first eight games, is chipping in 11.3 points per game. Prasse averages 10.8 points and 6.6 assists. Claire McMahon scores 10.2 points per game.

The men's team (11-7, 6-5 SSC) snapped a four-game skid with a 71-62 win over Tampa on Saturday, behind a double-double from Tylan Birts with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Evan Walshe added 17 points, while Daniel Mortensen and Isaiah Hobbs each had 10.
Mortensen and Birts are the only two Buccaneers averaging double figures. Mortensen averages 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds. Birts chips in 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds.
The Sharks (16-1, 10-1 SSC) come into the game ranked fifth in the NABC national poll and one a four-game winning streak. They defeated the Embry-Riddle Eagles 109-98 on Saturday. Three Sharks scored more than 20 points, led by David Dennis with 27. Mark Matthews had 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Mikkel Kolstad added 25. Dwayne Gibson (15) and Eddie Puisis (14) also scored double figures.
Matthews leads six Sharks in double figures with 19.8 points per game and also collects 9.1 rebounds per game. Dennis adds 16.0 points and 6.5 assists.
