MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers continue Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday, visiting the Embry-Riddle Eagles at the ICI Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. The women tip at 5:30 pm, followed by the men at 7:30 pm.
Women's Basketball - Wednesday, Jan. 2; 5:30 pm; ICI Center
The Barry women's basketball team (4-7, 2-2 SSC) got back on the right side of the ledger with a 64-55 win over Florida Tech on Sunday, snapping a two-game skid. Harriet Swindells continued to impress off the bench with a game-high 18 points. She was an outstanding 6-of-8 from three-point range.
Guard Nichel Tampa and Ida Andersson continue to pace the team. Sophomore Tampa averages 14.3, while senior Andersson chips in 14.2. After her recent hot streak, Swindells is third at 10.5 points per game. Andersson has been the best on the boards at 7.5 rebounds per game, while Tampa checks in at 6.1. Tampa leads the team with 3.8 assists per outing.
The Eagles (7-4, 2-2 SSC) also snapped a losing streak, three games, with a 67-58 win over Tampa last weekend. Lauren Ellenberger led the way for the Blue and Gold with a season-high 19 points, seven boards, five assists and two steals.
Sophomore forward Nikki Tucker has been the Eagles' leader this season at 15.5 points per game on 50 percent shooting. Freshman guard Sarah Jones chips in 13.1 points per game. Ellenberger adds 12.1 points and a team-high 5.3 assists and 6.7 rebounds.
GAME NOTES:
- Embery-Riddle leads the all-time series 4-2, wining the last four in a row after Barry took the first two.
- Last season, ERAU won 77-51 in Daytona Beach and 64-52 in Miami Shores.

Men's Basketball - Wednesday, Jan. 2; 7:30 pm; ICI Center
The Barry men (8-3, 3-1 SSC) snapped their two-game losing streak with an emphatic 95-68 win over Florida Tech on Sunday. Milon Sheffield, making his first career start, pumped in a career-high 20 points and had just one turnover from his point guard slot. Leandro Allende also had a career night, hitting 8-of-10 shots and finishing with 17 points.
Daniel Mortensen continues to pace the team with 14.2 points per game. Birts chips in 11.0 points on 63.1 percent shooting and leads the team with 5.8 rebounds. David Moya's 4.2 assists and 3.2:1 assist:turnover ratio lead the team.
The Eagles (8-7, 1-3 SSC) are coming off an 85-73 loss to Tampa last weekend and have dropped four of their last five. Alston Jones had a team-high 23 points and Nashad Mackey chipped in eight points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
Mackey, who missed nine games before returning against the Spartans, leads the team with 18.0 points and 12. 3 rebounds. Jones chips in 14.8 points and 4.0 assists, while Luka Majstorovic contributes 14.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
