MIAMI SHORES, FL. – In order to do something you have never done before, you must go to places that you have never gone to before.
The 2018 Barry University women's volleyball team (10-0, 2-0 SSC) is off to the best start in the program's history, winning their first 10 games. On Saturday afternoon, the Bucs had to go the distance against fellow Sunshine State Conference rival - the Lynn University Fighting Knights (6-3, 0-2 SSC). It was the first time this season that Barry has gone five sets with an opponent. The 10-0 start tops the 9-0 start that the 1994 Buccaneer squad tallied during a 30-4 season.
Head coach Steve Hendricks credits the fast start to the chemistry and competitiveness of his team. He believes that has led to an accomplishment that has never been done before. "I'm proud and happy for my team knowing that we are now a part of the rich, successful history of Barry athletics," Hendricks said. "We played through some adversity today and found a way to win", Hendricks added. "We have plenty of tough competitors on this team and they share a great chemistry between them. That was ultimately the difference in the final set."
