Men's Soccer Pushes #2 Sailfish To Overtime

Bucs clipped 3-2 in extra time

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Playing their second straight game against a ranked foe, the Barry Buccaneers pushed the second-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish to overtime before falling 3-2.

SUMMARY:

  • 27:53 - Luca de Biase touched the ball outside to Aday Gonzalez who sent a cross in from the right side, finding Francisco Aguirre all alone in the  middle of the box. Aguirre beat Sailfish keeper Elliott Barker to the right for the first goal.
  • 48:38 - Flavio Colasanti connected for his second goal in as many games to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead. Ander Urkidi sent the ball down the left side to Jack Parker who cut inside and found Colasanti cutting to the goal unmarked.
  • 84:42 - Callum Chapman-Page trimmed the lead to a goal in the 85th minute. Blake Barribeau sent a free kick in from 35 yards out to the far post and found Chapman-Page's head for the goal.
  • 85:49 - Just over a minute later, Jack Burrows collected a clearance attempt at the top of the 18-yard box and blasted a shot to the upper right corner for the equalizer.
  • 95:37 - In overtime, Claudio Rivadeneira and Juan Pablo Puelma worked a give and go at the top of the 18-yard box, with Rivadeneira scoring the game-winner from 12 yards out.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Marco Sordi played brilliantly, despite conceding the three goals. He had five saves, several of the point-blank variety. 
  • barker had three saves, conceding two goals for the second time this season.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday to face the Embry-Riddle Eagles at 7:00 pm.
