MIAMI SHORES, FL. – The Barry Buccaneers (13-1, 5-1 SSC) added another win to this season's total after defeating Eckerd College (7-6, 2-4 SSC) in straight sets this afternoon in St. Petersburg. The Bucs took the sets 25-19, 25-11, 25-20.
The Buccaneers received 66 votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll last week and should find themselves as one of the top 25 teams in the country when the poll is updated on Monday afternoon.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
"We played well, especially with our serves," Buccaneer head coach Steve Hendricks said. The Buccaneers totaled 12 aces against the Tritons - setting a season-high. "We had great play by Johanna Voss from the right side and Madison Yarborough had a great match with her passing and serving," Hendricks added. Yarborough racked up four aces in the match. Hendricks was pleased with the way his team responded against Eckerd after experiencing their first loss of the season last Tuesday on the road to No. 3 Palm Beach Atlantic. "We stayed focused and determined to win in three sets," Hendricks said. It was the 11th time this season that Barry won a match in straight sets.
SUMMARY:
- 1st set | W 25-19 | The Tritons battled early with both teams going back-and-forth with six ties throughout the set. Ultimately, the five kills a piece from Kristina Filimonova and Megi Buvinic earned Barry the first set.
- 2nd set | W 25-11 | The second set was very different in large part due to Barry's seven aces. Yarborough led the way with four aces.
- 3rd set | W 25-20 | Eckerd gave the Bucs some resistance before Barry closed things out in the final set. Anastasiia Samokhvalova recorded two of her game-high five blocks.
NOTEWORTHY:.
- Through the first 13 games, Barry has not allowed an opponent to hit over .200 this season.
- Samokhvalova has reached at least four blocks in five-of-the-last-six matches.
- Voss had a season-high in kills (six) and hitting percentage (.545).
- The Tritons came into today's match with a pair of impressive victories over Rollins College and Lynn University in their previous two games.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Buccaneers will return to Miami Shores next Friday, September 28th against Rollins College. That will be the first of a six game home-standfor the Buccaneers. The match is set for 7:00 pm at the Health & Sports Center.
