SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Barry University's No. 1-ranked men's tennis team hit the ground running at the NCAA Championships in Surprise, Arizona with a 5-0 win over the #40 St. Edward's Hilltoppers on Wednesday.
"Today, we started really well in doubles," Bucs head coach George Samuel said. "It's always a key factor, especially when you come into the championships. It was nice to see the guys down at the lower part of the lineup come through and win it for us. It was a fast match, and that's the good part about it, because it's hot out here and the quicker we can get off the court, the better it does for us in the future matches."
Following a 3-0 lead after doubles, the Buccaneers picked up two quick points in singles to advance to the national quarterfinals.
