Softball Splits With Tritons To Win Series

Bucs host final conference series next weekend

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Barry's softball team won the conference series against the Eckerd College Tritons on Saturday, after splitting the twin-bill at the Turley Athletic Complex.

SUMMARY:
Game 1

  • T2: Sam Busekrus got things started for the Bucs in the second with an RBI-double to center field. Barry 1 | Eckerd 0
  • T3: Peyton Rawls mirrored Busekrus with an RBI-double of her own, this time to left field. Barry 2 | Eckerd 0
  • T5: The Bucs added two more runs to their lead in the fifth. Anieliese Palmeiro scored on a fielding error by the Triton defense, and Brittany Phillips batted an RBI-single to right field. Barry 4 | Eckerd 0
  • B5: Carrie Shere hit a solo shot over the center field wall to cut Barry's lead to three runs. Barry 4 | Eckerd 1
  • B6: The Trtions stormed back with five runs of their own to take the two-run lead in the bottom of the sixth. Meredith McGinnis had a grand slam over the center field wall. Eckerd 6 | Barry 4

  • T1: Lynsey Duncan scored in Alayna Gallagher with a double to center field, to take the one run lead in the first. Barry 1 | Eckerd 0
  • T4: Catie Falcon doubled to left field, scoring Geneva Santos to extend their lead to two runs. Barry 2 | Eckerd 0
  • B5: Crystal Garcia had an RBI-single to left field to cut the Bucs' lead to one run. Barry 2 | Eckerd 1
  • T7: Barry added more four runs in the seventh. Madison VonHagel and Jordan Cooke combined for four RBI to take the five-run lead. Barry 6 | Eckerd 1
  • B7: The Tritons scored two more runs in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as the Bucs hold on to win the series with two wins over the course of two days. Barry 6 | Eckerd 3

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Christie Falcon (11-9) gave up eight hits and six runs in six innings, to take the loss for the Bucs in game one of the double-header.
  • Janna Gaburo (3-6) grabbed the win in the first game, after only allowing two hits in two innings for the Tritons. She lost the second game however, giving up seven hits and three runs in 4.2 innings.
  • Geneva Santos (8-14) allowed just six hits and three runs in seven innings of pitching in game two, to win her second game in two days for the Bucs.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Buccaneers host their final home games of the regular season on April 20 and 21 against Embry-Riddle on Buccaneer Softball Field.
