MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's men's tennis team was pushed to the brink by NCAA Diviison I Valparaiso Sunday. But the second-ranked Buccaneers prevailed, 5-4, at Buccaneer Tennis Center.
The Bucs used 10 players in the lineup, needing a comeback in singles to pull out the victory.

DOUBLES:
- Barry dropped the top two doubles matches by 8-5 and 8-4 scores.
- Vivien Versier and Carlos Gomez defeated Valparaiso's Franklin Brozovich and Brian Pecyna, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles to pick up the Bucs' lone point in pairs play.
SINGLES:
- Pierre Montrieul beat Chad Kissell, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, at No. 1 singles.
- Versier defeated Gabriel Carvajal, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.
- Flavio Matteoli beat Garrett Gardner, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 5 singles.
- Daniel Ventura secured the win with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Brandon Ancona at No. 3 singles.
- The Bucs dropped the Nos. 2 and six singles matches.
NOTEWORTHY:
- It was Barry's second straight win over a Division I opponent.
- The Buccaneers have two 5-4 victories this season.
- This was the second of five straight home matches for Barry.
