MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's tennis team will open the season this weekend with a pair of road matches Saturday and Sunday.
The second-ranked Buccaneers play at No. 11 Flagler 12 p.m. Saturday in St. Augustine, Fla. Barry will meet No. 10 Embry-Riddle in the Sunshine State Conference opener 11 a.m. Sunday in Daytona Beach.
Barry's match at Flagler (2-1) on Saturday will follow the women's match. Sunday's men's and women's matches will both be played simultaneously.
Saturday's season opener features a reunion with former Barry assistant coach Thomas Hipp, who took over Flagler's program five years ago, and has built the Saints into a potential Top 10 team. The Bucs have beaten the Saints in each of the past four years, but this year's matchup could be more competitive.
The Bucs return seven players from last year's NCAA Division II runner-up team.
