MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers closed out 2018 with a 64-55 win over Florida Tech in Sunshine State Conference women's basketball action at Cesar Odio Court on Sunday.

- 2Q - Although Florida Tech took their first lead on a triple by Hakanson to start the period, the Bucs quickly took control in the frame. A transition basket for Ashleigh Pink put the Bucs up 21-20 and the Bucs never trailed after. Harriet Swindells came off the bench for eight of her game-high 18 points, including a long three-pointer at the buzzer to give Barry their biggest lead to that point, 13 points. | Barry 39, Florida Tech 26
- 3Q - The third period was a mirror of the second, with Barry taking their biggest lead on a three-pointer by Swindells to start the period, but the Panthers bouncing back to out-score the Bucs 15-7 the rest of the way. | Barry 49, Florida Tech 41
- 4Q - The fourth quarter was slow for both teams, but the Panthers slowly chipped into the lead until they tied it up at 55-55 on a free throw by Kailyn Ebb with 3:15 to play. Swindells made the answer for the Bucs with a layup and a three-pointer on the next two possessions and two free throws with one second left to ice the game as the Bucs shutout the Panthers the rest of the way. | Barry 64, Florida Tech 55
NOTEWORTHY:
- In addition to Swindells' 18 points, Carly Sanders chipped in 12 points and Andersson added 11.
- Hakanson led the Panthers with 12 points, the only player in double figures.
- The Panthers held a 42-35 edge on boards, but had 20 turnovers.
- Barry out-shot Tech 41.4 to 36.7 percent from the floor and had nine three-pointers to just five for the Panthers.
