MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry women's basketball team continues their challenging fall schedule at the Cruzin' Classic on Dec. 17-18 at the Fort Lauderdale Civic Center. The Bucs face third-ranked West Texas A&M (8-0) on Monday and 9-1 Truman on Tuesday.

Barry (3-5, 1-2 SSC) is coming off its biggest win of the season, 64-63 over #25 Eckerd, last Saturday. Nichel Tampa score 19 points and added a career-high 13 rebounds to lead the Bucs. She was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week. Juhnae Richardson was named the Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Bucs hold the Tritons to 23 percent shooting from three-point range and tallying four defensive rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. Ida Andersson, who scored 12 points, hit a pair of key three-pointers, including one with four seconds left that proved to be the game-winner.
On the season, Tampa leads the team at 15.0 points and 3.5 assists per game. She's also garnered a team-best 19 steals. She is second on the team at 6.8 rebounds. Andersson is scoring 14.4 points per game and leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per contest. Richardson and Harriet Swindells each chip in 7.9 points per game.
West Texas A&M (8-0, 2-0 LSC) is currently ranked third in the WBCA National poll. The Lady Buffs ran their win streak to 11 games over the rival Mustangs of MSU Texas on Saturday afternoon with a 73-59 Lone Star Conference victory. Lexy Hightower scored a game-high 29 points, while Tyesha Taylor added 17 and nine rebounds.
For the season, the 6-5 Taylor leads the team scoring 18.1 points per game, while Hightower clocks in at 13.3. Delevah Harris' 6.1 rebounds tops the squad as does the 6.5 assists from Megan Gamble. The Buffs shoot a whopping 52.4 percent from the field, including 42.3 percent from three-point range.
Though the Truman Bulldogs (9-1, 2-0 GLVC) are currently unranked, they come in riding a three-game winning streak, including a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference wins. Katie Jaseckas recorded her first double-double of the season, 17 points and 11 rebounds, as the Bulldogs beat the Columbia Cougars 66-57.
Overall, Jaseckas leads the team with 11.0 per game. Brooke Bailey is right behind her with 10.9 points and leads the team with 3.4 assists. Maddie Re clears the boards at an 8.4 per game clip.

NOTEWORTHY
- The Bucs have never played West Texas A&M, but won the only meeting with Truman in 2010 at the NSU Thanksgiving Classic 63-44.
- Barry will be off after the Cruzin Classic until Dec. 30 when they jump back into Sunshine State Conference play hosting the Florida Tech Panthers at 2:00 pm.
