MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers open Sunshine State Conference basketball play at the Nova Southeastern Sharks on Wednesday, Nov. 28 in the Rick Case Arena.

Barry is 2-3 after splitting a pair of games at the NSU Thanksgiving Classic. The Bucs knocked off Alabama-Huntsville 86-75, but fell to #8/12 Virginia Union 82-58.
Ida Andersson has been the Bucs' top player this fall. The 5-10 senior is second on the team in scoring at 15.2 points per game, tops in rebounding at 8.2 and has shot 36.4 percent from three-point range. Newcomer Nichel Tampa is the scoring leader, averaging 15.6 points per game and the 5-5 guard chips in 6.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Harriet Swindells has been the top long-range threat, knocking down 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) from behind the arc.
The Sharks (3-2, 0-0 SSC) also split their games at the Thanksgiving Classic. They fell to Virginia Union 79-68 and beat UAH 72-68.
Alison Hughes leads the team at 14.4 points per game and 44.4 percent three-point shooting. Hailey Conley is second at 13.4 points and leads the team with 2.4 assists per game. Claire McMahon leads the team in rebounding at 7.0 per game.
GAME NOTES:
- Nova Southeastern leads the all-time series 25-18, including 10 of the last 12.
- Last season, the team split a pair, each winning at home. NSU won 86-76 on Dec. 30, while the Bucs took a 69-57 win on Feb. 17.

The Bucs, unranked in the preseason, hav shot up to #12 in the latest NABC poll. Barry is 4-0 on the year, but has been off since beating Keiser on Nov. 20.
Though the Bucs are averaging 82.0 points per game, only Evan Walshe (11.8) and Daniel Mortensen (10.0) are averaging double figures. But eight players contribute at least 6.0 points per game and seven players have had at least one double figure game. Tylan Birts' 6.3 rebound contributes to the Bucs' +15.5 rebounding margin. David Moya averages 4.8 assists per game from his point guard slot.
The Sharks, who also started unranked in the NABC poll, are up to a program-high 17 in the latest edition. NSU has topped 99 points in all three games this season, including a program record 133 points against Florida National. The Sharks are forcing a whopping 27.3 turnover per game.
Mark Matthews (22.3) and David Dennis (21.3) are the top two scorers in the SSC this season. Mikkel Kolstad (13.0) and Dwayne Gibson (10.0) also average double figures for the second-highest scoring team in D-II. Matthews, a 6-6 forward, leads the team in rebounding at 8.7 per game. Dennis is leading the conference with 7.0 assists per contest.
