MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – After a week-long break since their last home match of the season against Eckerd, the Buccaneers begin the month of November with four road matches remaining in the regular season.
On Friday night, Barry will take on No. 7 Tampa for the second time this year. The Bucs look to try and even the season-series against UT. Back in September, the two teams went toe-to-toe in a five-set-thriller in which the Spartans snuck away with a win inside the Health & Sports Center.
On Saturday afternoon, the Buccaneers head east on I-4 to face Rollins in Winter Park during their senior night. Barry swept the Tars in three sets at home in their first matchup on September 28th.
Both matches can be seen on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network and live stats are available as well.
SPARTACUS
The Spartans' 25-2 start is the best since the 2014 season. The 2014 team concluded the season as national champions. UT started this season unranked after falling out of the poll for the first time in 21 years in week 1 of the 2017 season. This season, the Spartans lead the Sunshine State Conference in hitting percentage (.275), assists (13.51 per set), and kills (14.26 per set). On October 27th, the Spartans were handed their first conference loss of the season from the then No. 17 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish.
STUCK IN TAR
The Tars are coming off a five-set loss to Nova at home in which they led 2-0 to begin. The Tars were riding a 39 set losing streak against Sunshine State Conference opponents, which was snapped when Rollins won the first set of the match against the Sharks. The loss dropped the Tars to a mark of 4-22 and 1-15 in Sunshine State Conference action.
