MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-- The Barry University Buccaneers fell 3-2 in a key region matchup to the North Alabama Lions on Sunday at Buccaneer Field.

SUMMARY:
FIRST HALF:
- The Bucs got on the board first in the early game. Gabby Sanon fed a ball from the left wing to Amanda Traynor just inside the 18-yard box and Traynor buried a shot to the top left corner in the 27th minute.
- The Lions knotted the game at 1-1 in the 42nd minute. The Bucs failed to clear the ball out of the back and Shelby Wall cashed in the opportunity to send the game into intermission tied 1-1.
SUMMARY:
SECOND HALF:
- Sanon recaptured the lead for the Bucs in the 61st minute. Carissa Sanchez drove the ball down the right side and passed the ball to the far post to Sofia de la Puente who popped the ball back up in the air in the middle of the box and Sanon went up to give the Bucs a 2-1 lead.
- The Lions tied the game again on a defensive miscue in the 69th minute. Kylie Huey stole the bal in the box and scored one-on-one against Buccaneer keeper Melanie Ziegner.
- Huey came up with the game-winner in the 71st minute. Beatriz Fernades slipped a pass up through the middle of the Bucs' defense to a streaking Huey who again got the better of Ziegner.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Ziegner took the loss for the Bucs, making five saves but allowing three goals. Jade Adams also swept a ball off the line in the 64th minute.
- Shelby Thornton made three saves and was saved by her backs on another to earn the win in goal for UNA.
- Just before she scored the Lions first goal, Wall sent a rocket off the crossbar that bounced out and away.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs travel next weekend to face Columbus State and Calyton State of the Peach Belt Conference on the road.
