MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Barry University senior men's tennis player
Ahmed Triki was named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week. It is the third time this season and 12th time in his career Triki has received the award.
Triki, a native of Tunis, Tunisia, has took home the honor three times in each of his four years as a Buccaneer.
Last week, Triki won eight matches, including four in singles and four in doubles. The No. 2-ranked player in the country, Triki beat No. 49 Eric Tseng of 12th-ranked UC-San Diego, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 1 singles. He also had wins over No. 49 Palm Beach Atlantic, No. 38 Florida Southern and No. 48 Florida Tech at the No. 1 position.
Along with
Pierre Montrieul, Triki won all of his No. 1 doubles matches, including an 8-3 victory over Alexandre Miaule and Sreeganesh Manoharan of UC-San Diego.Â
Triki is 4-2 against nationally-ranked opponents in singles and 4-0 in doubles this season.
Barry will host Eckerd 10 a.m. Saturday at Buccaneer Tennis Center.
