BRADENTON, Fla. – Barry University's men's tennis team made short work of Eckerd in the Sunshine State Conference quarterfinals Thursday at IMG Academy, winning 5-0.
All 10 Buccaneers who made the trip saw the court, with Carlos Gomez and Daniel Ventura coming up with singles victories to close the door. Gomez accounted for two points as he and Vivien Versier won at No. 2 doubles to send the Bucs into singles with a 3-0 lead.
Barry won all three doubles matches by 8-2 scores.
The top-seeded Bucs will play fourth-seeded Rollins, a 5-4 winner over Florida Southern, in Friday's semifinals.

SUMMARY:
- Fourth-ranked Ahmed Triki and Pierre Montrieul beat Victor Appelqvist and Alasdair Knox, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles in the first pairs match to finish.
- Fernando Tous and Flavio Matteoli put the Bucs up 2-0 following an 8-2 win over Eddie Lewis and Bruno Alves at the No. 3 position.
- Versier and Gomez, who are ranked 25th in the nation, defeated Matt Spasic and Will Stone, 8-2, at No. 2.
- Gomez, the 11th-ranked singles player in the country, beat Appelqvist, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. That moved Barry within a point of clinching.
- With both the Nos. 6 and 3 singles matches within points of finishing up, Ventura wrapped up the Bucs' win when he finished off Connor Massella, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 6 position.
- Fabian Pronnet led Stone, 6-0, 5-0, at No. 3 singles when the fifth point clinched the match.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Triki and Montrieul won their 15th pairs match this season.
- Ventura improved to 7-0 in singles play.
- Matteoli is 3-1 in doubles matches.
- Gomez and Versier are 13-1 this season.
