Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

No. 17 Men's Hoops Drops Roadie at Rollins

Bucs idle until Wednesday vs. FSC

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry entered unchartered territory Wednesday night. Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, it wasn't the direction they wanted to go in.

The 17th-ranked men's basketball team lost at Rollins, marking the longest losing streak of head coach Butch Estes' tenure since taking over the tiny Miami Shores program in 2013-14. That streak snuck up on the Bucs, despite a 15-point second half lead.

Barry led with a little over a minute to play, but the Tars scored the game's final seven points in the final 1:06 -- a stretch in which the Bucs missed a layup, committed two turnovers and were victimized by an offensive foul and double technical foul. In the end, all that mattered was Wednesday was not the night Barry would pick up its 20th win of the season.

  • Sawyer Glick buried another 3 at the 13:31 mark to extend Barry's lead to 15. Glick finished with 14 points on 4 of 7 shooting from downtown.
  • Rollins went on a 7-0 run to cut the gap to eight with 11:23 to go after Jeff Merton scored. Barry bumped its lead back to nine on the next trip down the floor when Adrian Gonzalez scored. Gonzalez had 20 points and seven boards.
  • The Tars cut it to three, 80-77, with 5:41 left on the clock. Williams canned another 3 on the Bucs' next possession, but Rollins drew within two on back-to-back buckets by Sam Philpott.
  • Rollins tied the game for the fourth time with 1:06 to go, and the Buccaneers failed to score the rest of the way.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The last time Barry lost three straight games was during the 2012-13 season when Orlando Gonzalez served as interim coach.
  • Williams has buried a career-high 82 triples this season, which ties him for fourth in school single-season history. Yunio Barrueta owns the Bucs' school record of 107 threes in 33 games last year.
  • Gonzalez scored 20 points for the 11th time this season. He is eight field goals away from becoming the eighth player in Barry history to hit 200 field goals in a season. Gonzalez is 192 for 321 this season.
  • Kenan Guzonjic scored in double figures for the second time in the last three games and ninth time this season.
  • Barry had 25 assists for the first time in seven games.
