MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Fresh off a five-game winning streak, the Barry women's basketball team vaulted into the Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, at number five this week. It is the first time that the Bucs have been ranked in the regional poll since the final poll of 2015-16 and the highest ranking in program history.

The Bucs (7-2, 3-1 SSC) are on a roll, winning seven of their last eight games. Their only two losses of the season have come at Union (ranked #1 in the region) and at Eckerd (ranked #2). The Bucs have knocked off three undefeated teams this season. They are coming off a 66-56 win over Tampa on Saturday, Dec. 9, just the second win in the Martinez Center since 2005.
Kiara Palmer leads the Bucs in scoring (16.4), rebounding (9.9), blocked shots (20) and shooting (57.9%) again this season. She is coming off back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Rollins and Tampa. She is fifth in the conference in scoring, first in rebounding and second in blocks and shooting. Barbara Cousiño is chipping in 15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Her 45.8 three-point field goal percentage tops the league. Ida Andersson has made quite the impression in her first season, averaging 11.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
The Bobcats are just 5-5 on the season, but have won their last four in a row. The Bobcats have two common opponents with the Bucs, beating Florida Memorial 61-50 at home and losing 64-54 at Rollins.
Junior guards Sarama Auguste and Katie Reinas lead the team. Auguste is averaging 17.9 points and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting 40.5 percent from three-point range. Reinas chips in 15.8 points per game. Ebony Griffin leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game.
