MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's volleyball team will wrap up the season this weekend at home with a pair of matches at the Health and Sports Center.
The Buccaneers (10-13, 6-12 Sunshine State Conference) host Tampa (16-13, 11-7) at 7 p.m. Friday and No. 22 Florida Southern (23-6, 17-1) on Senior Day at 4 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will air on the
Buccaneer Broadcast Network.
Tampa is coming off a five-set win over Eckerd on Tuesday, and has won five in a row -- three of which have gone to five sets. Taylor Fosler leads the SSC in hitting percentage at .386. Nicole Dominguez has 305 kills, and Sorrel Houghton 303. Sammy Mueller is averaging 8.9 assists per set.Â
The Bucs fell to the Spartans in five sets earlier this season.
Florida Southern swept No. 23 Saint Leo Tuesday, and has won 16 straight matches. The Moccasins clinched at least a share of the SSC title. Nicole Mattson is second in the league in kills with 432. Sydney Marshall is hitting .339. Bethany Besancenez leads the league with 1,237 assists.Â
Barry fell to Florida Southern in three sets earlier this season.
The Buccaneers will honor seniors
Genesis Castillo and
Jaeda Allen Saturday in their final collegiate matches. Castillo has 330 kills, 187 digs and 118 blocks in her two-year Barry career. Allen has 652 kills, 470 digs and 56 aces in her two-year Barry career.Â
