MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 5-ranked men's basketball team opened the season with a dominant win over neighbor St. Thomas University Wednesday night, winning 121-65, in the Health and Sports Center.
The Buccaneers fell one triple shy of the school single-game three-point field goals made record, and were seven points short of the school scoring mark. Barry had 21 threes, including eight by Sawyer Glick.

SUMMARY:
- The Buccaneers never trailed in a game they shot 59 percent from the floor.
- Barry built a 14-point lead in the first half on back-to-back threes by Elvar Fridriksson with 10:46 to go before intermission. Fridriksson had 15 of his 23 points in the first half.
- St. Thomas cut the lead under double figures, but Sawyer Glick canned a triple to put the Bucs up 39-24 at the 5:43 mark. The Bobcats whittled it down to eight on a Tim Sada three with 19 seconds left in the half.
- Barry opened the floodgates in the second half when Johannes Dolven scored at the 14:02 mark to put the Buccaneers ahead by 16. Barry outscored St. Thomas, 12-0, over the next 5:34 to bump the lead to 28. The Bobcats went scoreless again for another five-and-a-half minutes, and the onslaught was on.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Glick's 34 points was a career high. He was 13 of 23 from the field, including 8 of 15 from 3-point range.
- Sunday Dech had a double-double in his Bucs debut, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists.
- Dolven had 13 points and five boards in his debut.
- All 12 Bucs who played scored.
- Barry's single-game record for points scored was 128 in the season opener versus Nova Southeastern on Nov. 27, 1992, and again on Dec. 3, 1990 against Miami Christian.
