MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry men's soccer team picked up their first win on the season with a 1-0 victory over the Tampa Spartans at Buccaneer Field on Saturday night.

SUMMARY:
- FIRST HALF -- Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half. Tampa had the edge in shots at 8-7, though both teams put only two each on goal.
- SECOND HALF -- In the second half, the Spartans held much of the run of play, increasing their lead in shots to 10-5 in the period.
- But Barry's Ivan Arenas took advantage of a Tampa defensive miscue to steal the ball in the back and come in one-on-one with Spartan keeper Jake Richards. Arenas slotted the ball past Richards for the only goal of the match.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Barry's Marco Sordi posted his second shutout and first win in goal, making eight saves.
- Richards took the loss for Tampa, stopping four shots.
