MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—After dropping a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, the Barry women's soccer team looks to get back on the winning side on Saturday, Oct. 7 as they visit Pepin Stadium to face the Tampa Spartans.
The Bucs have scored seven goals in six games, ranking ninth in the SSC, with senior winger Amandda Traynor accounting for four of them, ranking her tied for third in the league in goals per game. Sofia de la Puente, Gabby Sanon and Indrid Lian have the others. Brittany Larosa and Carissa Sanchez each have two assists to lead the team.
Defensively, the Bucs have been very good, ranking third in the league with a 0.77 goals against average. Individually, Melanie Ziegner is third in the league with a .795 goals against average and leads the circuit with three shutouts in six games.
The Spartans are eighth in the league averaging 1.25 goals per game offensively, scoring 10 goals in eight games. Freshman Erika Peitersen has a team-best three goals, while Nastasia Asgedom chips in tow goals and two assists. Senior Caroline Frykgard is second in the league with a .724 goals against average, though she has only two clean sheets in eight games.
