MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University men's soccer team are hosting the Mocs of Florida Southern University Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. This game will also be senior night for the lads, as we recognize the six members of the 2017 graduating class of the Barry men's soccer team.
Marcos Nunez is a one-year letterman who transferred from Iona College. He has made 11 appearances for the Bucs, starting in four for a total of 582 minutes. Nunez recorded 21 shots this season and notched his first goal in the 2-0 victory against Saint Leo last Saturday. He will be graduating Barry with a degree in business.
Jerrell Cato is a two-year letterman who joined the squad in 2016 from Lake Tahoe Community College. He has made 12 starts in 25 appearances here at Barry. Cato has tallied six assists in his career and scored his first Barry goal in the 4-0 blowout against Johnson & Wales on Oct. 17. The London, England native will be graduating with a degree in business.
Bo Haug is a two-year letterman coming from Anderson University. He has made 12 starts in 19 appearances in goal for his career for the Bucs. His overall record in goal at Barry is 9-5-4, having made 67 saves and posting 5 shutouts. Haug was named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall, and he was a member of the President's List in the fall and spring of last year. He is currently in graduate school for a masters' of business administration.
Leo Awokang is a four-year letterman from Lynn, Massachusetts. Since his freshman year, this young man has played a total of 48 matches, while starting in 36 on defense for the Bucs. He has assisted three goals during his time at Barry. Awokang has been named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll last fall and Dean's List in the spring. He will be graduating with a degree in sport exercise science.
Linus Fischer is a four-year letterman who came to Barry in 2014 from Berlin, Germany. This athlete has played in 47 games on defense for the Bucs, and started in 37. He has two assists in his career here at Barry. Fischer has been named to the SSC's Honor Roll last fall, and he was also named to the Dean's List in the spring. He will be graduating Barry with a degree in marketing.
Frank Lustig is a four-year letterman from Ingostadt, Germany. The senior has made 43 starts in 50 appearances for the Bucs. He has nine career goals and 14 assists, good for 32 points. Lustig is also 3-3 in penalty kicks made, placing him in a tie for ninth on the all-time PK list. He has been named to the SSC's Honor Roll last fall, as well as to the Dean's List last fall and spring. He will be graduating with a degree in finance.
The Bucs (4-5-2, 3-4-1 SSC) are currently seventh in the league, while the Mocs (7-4-0, 5-3-0 SSC) are in the number five spot in the league standings. Palm Beach Atlantic is in the first spot with just one loss in the conference.
The Florida Southern seniors being honored before the match are twin brothers Edward and Carl Spansk, and midfielder Dani Morillo.
