First 40 students receive meal pass; ticket holders free popcorn

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry's women's basketball team will host No. 25 Eckerd 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Buccaneers are coming off a win Wednesday that put them in better position to qualify for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The top eight teams advance to the SSC postseason tournament. Barry is tied with Lynn for seventh place in the league standings. Eckerd leads the league with a 16-3, 9-1 conference mark.

Saturday's game will air on the Buccaneer Broadcast Network.

Barry's Melanie Jordan has given the Bucs a spark off the bench. She's scored in double figures in both of the past two games, including a career-high 20 points at Nova Southeastern last Saturday. Kiara Palmer has scored in double figures in the past six games -- a streak which started in the first meeting with Eckerd three weeks ago in St. Petersburg.

Eckerd's Victoria Vine is the league's third leading scorer at 14.8 points per game. She's reached double figures in four of the last five games. Kacie Juday is scoring 13.2 points and grabbing 6.8 rebounds. She has scored in double figures in the last three games. The Tritons lead the league in scoring at 71.5 points per game.

TIP-INS: The first 40 students in attendance to Saturday's game will receive a free meal pass to Barry University's dining hall. Paid ticket holders who present their tickets will receive free popcorn from Bucky's Cove.
