No. 10 Men's Hoops Trip Up Tech

Buccaneers host Eckerd in battle for first place in SSC Saturday

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry matched a season-high from long range, and Florida Tech was playing catch-up the whole way. In the end, the three-ball was just too much to overcome for the Panthers as the No. 10-ranked Buccaneers swept the season series following Wednesday night's big win.

Barry maintained a one-game lead over Eckerd for first place in the Sunshine State Conference. The Bucs will host the Tritons 4 p.m. Saturday in the Health & Sports Center.

SUMMARY:

  • Barry had 11 of its 19 three-point field goals in the first half. Sawyer Glick was 6-for-6 from long range, and Arie Williams canned four of his own.
  • The Buccaneers led by as many as 37 in the second half.
  • Barry assisted on 28 of its 38 field goals. It was the second time this season the Bucs have had 28 assists against Florida Tech. The Buccaneers rank second in Division II in percentage of baskets assisted on.
  • Barry sank 8 of 9 free throws for the second straight game.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Adrian Gonzalez scored 19 points to move into a tie with Nick Ellingsworth-Perez for fourth place on the school's all-time scoring list at 1,292 points.
  • The Bucs have hit 19 triples three times this season, matching a season-high. It was also the second straight game Barry buried 19 triples, having done so at Nova Southeastern Saturday.
  • Barry scored 100 or more points for the fifth time this season. It was the first time since Jan. 4 the Buccaneers reached the century mark.
  • Glick scored in double figures in the first half for the third straight game.
  • The Buccaneers shot 50 percent or better from 3-point range for the third time this season.
