MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry's baseball team lost 4-3 in an exhibition match against the Miami-Dade Sharks Friday night.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
"The team looked good, but we just have to be better on executing," volunteer assistant coach Jimmy Correnti said. "We're not far from where we want to be."
SUMMARY:
- B1: Barry first baseman Julian Abreu doubled to right field to score Khalil Denson, who had singled and stole second, giving Barry an early 1-0 lead.
- B2: Buccaneer's Ryan Baldwin went opposite field, as he homered to extend the lead to two runs.
- T3: Miami-Dade took the lead as Ramon Varela homered, scoring three runs to make the score 3-2. He drove in Jackie Urbaez and Danny Mondejar.
- T5: Varela stole third and ended up scoring on a throwing error to make the score 4-2.
- B5: Anthony Rondon grounded out to second base, driving in Alffredi Ramos from third base, to trim MDC's lead to one run.
- B9: Yadiel Fonseca grabbed the save for the Sharks as he set the Bucs down in order in the ninth.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Alex Lavandero faced the minimum in completing his two innings of work.
- Pablo Arevalo, Erik Bauer, and Daniel Broeseker combined to toss three hit-less innings with four strikeouts in the back end of the bullpen.
- Denson had two hits and a stolen base.
- Barry pitchers combined to issue just one walk to seven strikeouts.

The Bucs start the regular season on the road against Palm Beach Atlantic Friday Feb. 3 at 6 pm.
