No. 5 Men's Basketball Reels in Sailfish

Buccaneers host Embry-Riddle Saturday afternoon

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University's men's basketball team found itself in a first half test before pulling away in the second half to put Palm Beach Atlantic away Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers led by just two at the break, but outscored the Sailfish, 52-36, in the second half to win going away.

SUMMARY:

  • Barry scored 11 straight points to open the second half, and led by double digits the rest of the way. 
  • Bucs 7-foot center Theo Turner sank two free throws with 12:14 remaining to give Barry a 65-45 lead. The Sailfish cut it to 16 roughly two-and-a-half minutes later, but Adrian Gonzalez knocked down a jumper in the paint to balloon the lead out to 22 at the 8:33 mark.
  • Sawyer Glick's triple with 4:08 remaining kept Barry's lead at 20.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Four starters scored in double figures for Barry. The Buccaneers are 6-1 in games when four starters reach double figures.
  • Barry shot 44 percent from the floor, which was eight percentage points under its season average. It is just the fifth time the Bucs have shot under 50 percent this season. Barry has been held under 50 percent from the floor its last two games.
  • Sawyer Glick had a career-high 11 rebounds.
  • The Bucs dished out 25 assists for the eighth time this season. They have had 25 assists in three of the last four games.
